Buying diamonds online can be stressful. We understand this because we've bought a few on eBay ourselves; just to experience the process as a customer. And we've had problems, and dealt with some less than straightforward sellers. But we learned what's important, and have done everything we can to make shopping with eSale-etc enjoyable and risk free!

Here are our Five Simple Rules to make buying online risk free:

1. Only buy from sellers with their own diamond inventory. Never buy from a virtual database, where the seller has not seen the diamond, and has to rely on a third party to judge quality and value.
   
2. Only buy from sellers offering a 'no hassle' returns policy. You should be able to return the diamond within a stated time frame for any reason.
   
3. Never buy from a seller that imposes a 'restocking' fee. That's a backdoor way to make a profit, and it's simply unfair.
   
4. Only buy from sellers who accept credit cards. VISA/MC consumer protection features shift all the risk of non-performance to the seller.
   
5. When buying diamonds above 0.50 carat make sure they have a certificate from a respected, independent gemological laboratory like AGS, GIA or EGL. That is your assurance that the diamond is accurately described.
